Opus International Consultants has won the tender to investigate three potential improvement projects on State Highway 2 north of Katikati.
The three relatively small New Zealand Transport Agency projects, packaged as one, contract to provide economic and timing efficiencies, as part of a long term strategy to improve safety and provide more passing opportunities on the busy commuter, tourism and freight route.
The contract involves investigating improvements to the curve at Arden Cottage corner and reviewing the possibility of adding passing lanes near Bridgman Lane and Wolseley Road. The NZTA's Bay of Plenty state highway manager Rod James says the $400,000 investigation is expected to be completed by mid-2011.
