Parking sensors using radio technology to monitor central city car parking use are being trialled in Elizabeth Street.
The small yellow devices inform the council by radio how many cars have parked in a given space and for how long - and can signal parking wardens when the car is over parked.
These yellow devices are measuring how long a car has been parked in a space.
The sensors are part of a $5000 trial on inner city parking use.
The increasing regimentation of downtown parking has been challenged by the downtown businesses and their organisation, Mainstreet Tauranga.
