UPDATED: The Kaimai Range is now open after a slip came down blocking both lanes of State Highway 29 on Wednesday.

The New Zealand Transport Agency says the 1.5m deep mud and vegetation has been cleared after the slip, on the Matamata side, closed the highway to traffic in both directions about 9pm.

A NZTA spokesperson says the job was complete just after 6pm allowing boths lanes to be opened.
