Mall impact minimal

Greerton Village Community Association chairman David Mansford is in support of the proposed mall at Tauriko, saying it will likely attract new clientele to Greerton.
The construction of the $100 million mall, planned to be bigger than Bayfair, is causing concern for some Greerton retailers, but David is sure there no need to worry.

Greerton Village Community Association chairman David Mansford says the new shopping complex near Tauriko will not have a big impact on Greerton retailers.

"Even if it does go ahead, it's not going to be for another four or five years anyway before it kicks in," says David.
Even when it does arrive, he says the mall will be good for the area as it will attract different clientele to Greerton.
"One's petrol and one's diesel. They do the same job but from a different point of view."
Construction of the mall, to be situated on a 12.5 hectare site next to Route K, is scheduled for early 2012 with many of the larger stores intending to begin operation 12-18 months later.
