Tauriko shops in the works

Efforts to construct a Tauriko shopping centre are on the go again after being stalled by recession.
New Zealand Retail Property Group commercial manager Rachel Emerson confirms the group is resuming the search for tenants for the development on 12.5ha alongside State Highway 29.

To be named Tauriko Crossing, the first stage of the development will include a Countdown supermarket and Kmart.
Tauriko Crossing will be built in three stages with construction of the first stage expected to begin in early 2012.
When completed, Tauriko Crossing is planned to have 41,000sqm of retail space - bigger than Bayfair at 35,000sqm and NZRPG's Fraser Cove development at 31,000sqm.
The total development is estimated at $100 million.
