Record numbers visit home show

The Tauranga Home Show is drawing in record numbers this weekend, with thousands of people admiring all things home-related.

More than 200 exhibitors are on offer at the Tauranga Home Show.

A record 4000 people attended the 15th annual event at ASB Baypark yesterday, with today the last day for punters to see what's on offer.

Featuring more than 200 exhibits and displays, live cooking (and tasting) seminars, alfresco displays, interior design tips and techniques – the Tauranga Home Show showcases the very best in new kitchens, bathrooms, interior living and homeware.

Event organiser Graeme Martin says after a five-year lull, the city is thriving again, with home show visitors keen not just to look – but to buy.

'We are building again after five tough years things are away again, there's a wave of activity happening and this home show is riding that wave.

'There's people who are keen to buy rather than just keen to look, and that's putting a lot of exhibitors in a good mood obviously. A lot of them are recording some fantastic results here this weekend.”

A record number of prizes are also up for grabs with a prize pool totalling more than $36,000, including the biggest single prize yet: the Palazzo Kitchen and Appliance prize package – a possible draw card for some visitors, says Graeme.

'I haven't met a lady yet who doesn't want to win it,” laughs Graeme.

Today is the final day of the 2014 event on at ASB Baypark, with 2000 free carparks and 8000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space.

The Tauranga Home Show runs daily from 10am-5pm on May 9-11. Tickets are $10 per adult, children 13 and under enter for free.
