The Homunga Track in Waihi, which has been closed due to slips and downed trees, has been rebuilt.
The Department of Conservation and Waihi community banded together to rebuild the track ahead of the Nugget Multisport Festival this weekend.
A working bee put in a huge effort to get the Homunga Track reopened ahead of this year's Nugget Multisport festival.

Conservation partnerships ranger Mark Anderson says the beautiful track is used for the run leg of the nugget and has become an iconic part of the race.
He says the community banded together, led by the local mountain bike group and the Katikati Tramping Club and with the help of DOC, re-built the track so the popular annual event could go ahead.
'Another great example of the department and the community working together to create a positive outcome.”
