A woman is in hospital with multiple injuries after being trapped in a vehicle for about an hour.

Emergency services were called to the accident between a car and a light truck on State Highway 5, near Opepe, yesterday afternoon.

The Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was called in to transport the woman to hospital.

Base manager and pilot Nat Every says the woman in her 20s was cut from the wreck after being trapped for about an hour.

'Dhe was transported to Waikato Hospital with multiple leg fractures, dislocations and spinal injuries.” Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
