Traffic delays near Te Puke

Motorists are being advised to expect delays travelling along State Highway 2, between Atuaroa Bridge and Te Puke Quarry Road, as rehabilitation works take place today.

The works will be undertaken on a 600 metre stretch of road and delays of up to 20 minutes are expected, depending on the time of the day.

NZ Transport Agency says the work is expected to finish on Monday.

A stop/go traffic management operation will be in place for all south-bound vehicles and north-bound HPMV trucks.

For north-bound cars and standard heavy vehicles heading towards Papamoa, there will be a short detour along Te Puke Quarry Road to Manoeka Road.

A 30 km/h speed restriction will also be in place at the work site.

NZTA advises motorists to keep to the posted 30km/h temporary speed limit.

'Depending on the time of day, significant delays are expected and motorists are advised to either use alternate routes or adjust their travelling times away from peak periods if possible,” says a statement from the roading organisation.

The work will only be postponed in extreme wet weather conditions.
