Minimal traffic delays are expected when road pavement works on State Highway 2, in the Athenree Gorge, start today.
Road pavement works begin Monday on SH2.
The NZ Transport Agency says the works will continue for a couple of weeks at the gorge, just north of Katikati, where the agency is realigning a series of bends known as the Arden Cottage curves.
The work, part of the NZTA's ongoing maintenance activity, is being done to ensure the road pavement at this location is kept strong enough to carry heavy traffic during the next 10-20 years.
'There are minimal delays expected, but traffic will be managed through a manual stop/go operation during the day,” says an NZTA statement.
'Speed restrictions will be in place both day and night.”
Motorists are advised to keep to the posted temporary speed limits.
The works will commence from 6am to 6pm daily until complete, which is expected to be on March 14.
