Much of the economic discussion in New Zealand about currency and exchange rates is based on the importance to the country of a comparatively weak dollar to aid exporters.

At the moment the New Zealand dollar is very strong in value against the US dollar and the British pound. While this may be harming exporters, it does create opportunities for New Zealanders to invest offshore.
