Signing up to Kiwisaver + vid

Kiwisaver is a unique savings scheme in New Zealand which has been widely adopted by the public since its inception in July 2007.

Each week Bay of Plenty investment advisor Jonathan York gives pointers on finance, business and economy.

The scheme is forced savings taken from a person's income when they are paid their wages or salary. Employers will match the employee's contribution, capped at two per cent of the person's total annual income.
Workers may contribute two, four or eight per cent of their income into the scheme.
