Baypark Speedway has another national champion to its list of contracted drivers after Chris Cowling won the NZ Saloon Car championship in Stratford last night.
The champion win follows the efforts of Sprint Car driver Rodney Wood and Super Saloon driver Marc Osborne the weekend before, says ASB Baypark speedway manager Roger Bailey.
Baypark Speedway driver Chris Cowling is now a national champion.
'Chris is following in the footsteps of his father and Tauranga ITM racing team principal Maurice Cowling who won many NZ Speedway titles in a number of classes dating back 30 years.”
Last night Chris overcame a tangle with other traffic in an early heat to move through the field in later races, gathering enough points to win the 1NZ title from fellow Baypark driver Brent McClymont.
Brent has gained a place in the NZ title for the last seven years.

Congratulations to both Chris and Brent (number 2) and the rest of the Mount boys, they did not disgrace the Baypark Speedway with being up in the top.
