A 23-year-old woman is in Tauranga Hospital with moderate head injuries after the vehicle she was in crashed into a power pole in Papamoa.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Gravatt Road at about 12.20am.
Police are investigating how a car crashed into a power pole early this morning.
St John Paramedics treated the woman, who was the front seat passenger of the vehicle, at the scene.
'She was then taken to Tauranga Hospital with moderate head injuries and the driver was dealt with by police,” says a St John Paramedic spokesperson.
Senior Sergeant Glenn Saunders says police are still investigating the crash and it's too early to say what the cause was. 'There is very little detail. There was a crash and one person was injured.”
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Sadly Gravett road seems to be a race track for some of the young idiots that go up and down with there speed and noisy exhaust systems and no Police present.
