Harbour Link wins top PR prize

The team behind Tauranga's Harbour Link Project has won the supreme Public Relations Institute of New Zealand award for 2010.
Chairperson of the Bay of Plenty regional transport committee, Jane Nees, says the award recognises that the local community was kept fully informed as the project progressed over three years.

The PR network behind the Harbour Link Project has won a national award for its efforts in keeping the public informed of progress on it.

"All the agencies and companies involved in Harbour Link are grateful for the level of community support they received during construction and for the final result - a piece of infrastructure the whole region is proud of," says Jane.
National president of PRINZ, Graeme Purches, says the level of community support and cooperation Harbour Link received made it stand-out from the other 50 entrants for this year's awards.
"The project team worked together extremely well to deliver a first-class programme where businesses and the entire community felt part of the project with a stake in the outcome."

After a lifetime of witnessing civil contracts drag on year after year this bridge contract was a breath of fresh air - well planned and expertly carried through to a great speedy finish with the minimum of inconvenience to the public - if only all public works could be carried out in a similar fashion!

Congratulations on achieving this award! One would have to say that we did receive fantastic updates on the bridge-building progress. The photos, drawings and models used were very very informative - state of the art, obviously! Well done all.
