A motorcyclist suffered an injured wrist when a motorbike and car crashed on Maunganui Road overnight.

Emergency services were called to the accident on Maunganui Road, at its intersection with Concord Avenue, at about 5.20pm.

A car and motorcyclist collided on Maunganui Road.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager, Senior Sergeant Ian Campion, says a car heading to the Mount turned right after being let through by stationary traffic towards a driveway.

'The motorcycle was riding down near the side of the stationary traffic and the motorcycle has collided just behind the driver's side door.

'The motorcyclist sustained wrist injuries and was taken to Tauranga Hospital.” Ian says the crash is still under investigation, so it's still too early to say whether or not charges will be laid.

'Staff who attended the scene believe both parties contributed to the crash.”
