A $500,000 road widening project on Cameron Road at its intersection with 18th Avenue is expected to start on Monday.
The 10-12 week project starting will involve increasing the road width to four lanes and the installation of traffic lights at 18th Avenue and Cameron Road.
Traffic signals will be installed on Cameron Road and 18th Avenue and the road will be increased to four lanes.
Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says no road closure is planned.
'All on-road car parking will be permanently removed. Sections of the cycle lanes will be temporarily closed.
'The pedestrian crossing and the entrance to the hospital will remain open throughout the works.”
Marcel asks people to take extra care when driving through the site and to consider taking an alternative route.
'Expect some delays during peak traffic times.”
Other works happening around the city include resurfacing works along Cameron and Devonport Roads, which are expected to cost about $1.2million.
The eight week Elizabeth Street upgrade started last week and Marcel doesn't expect the works to cause any traffic delays.
He says the eight week project involves road re-construction, road widening and an upgrade to traffic signals.
Cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings and footpath facilities will also be upgraded during the works.
'There are no daytime road closures, but there might be some night time closures with signed detours.
'There are also resealing works planned for Devonport Road, between 13th and 14th Ave, during the school holiday period in January.” Marcel says these works are expected to take around two weeks.
A two week resealing project on Cameron Road in Gate Pa is also due to start next year.
Marcel says these projects come under one contract and are expected to cost about $1.2million.
Motorists are also being advised of road works on State Highway 2, between Te Maunga and Domain Road.
The road surface repairs are to take place tonight and tomorrow night.
A traffic switch on SH2, between Te Maunga and Bruce Road, will happen on Tuesday, October 22.
This is to allow construction to start on a section of the existing SH2, just south of Te Maunga roundabout. All traffic will be switched onto a section of the new TEL lanes.
