Tauranga's first coin in the slot dog wash may operate at Palmers' Bethlehem this weekend.

It's one of four dog wash operations planned by Dave Churstain in Tauranga. Another is going in at the Mount car wash in Hewletts Road and Churstain has also approached Tauranga City Council about placing one in Ferguson Park. He also hopes to find another site in the Gate Pa-Greerton area.
For $12, the coin operated system offers shampoo and conditioning options for light or heavy coats; flea and tick wash; clean water rinse and blow dry.
Developed in Perth by a New Zealand mate, Dave saw opportunities for the Doggie Delight Dogwash when he moved to Tauranga this year.
'There was nothing happening in building,” says Dave, a carpenter.
'I've got to do something, so I thought I would give this a go.”
Dave has the agency for the Western Bay of Plenty and says there a similar concept dog wash operating in Hamilton and another in Hastings – but neither with the features of the doggie delight.
At the moment the dog washer is coin operated but they are considering installing a card reader.
