Charges could be laid against the driver of a 4WD which hit another vehicle on State Highway 2, near Munro Road, say police.
Tauranga Police Sergeant Nigel Ramsden says a woman driving a stationwagon was waiting to turn right into Munro Road when a 4WD driven by another woman crashed into the rear.
A silver 4WD flipped onto its side after rear-ending a stationwagon on SH2.
The 4WD flipped onto its side trapping the woman in the driver's seat, who was the only person in the car.
The force of the crash also shunted the Toyota about 30 metres down the road.
Firefighters freed the woman and both female drivers were taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor and moderate injuries following the crash.
A Bay of Plenty District Health Board communications spokesperson says the 31-year-old woman has been treated and discharged while a 16-year-old girl remains in a comfortable condition in a ward.
He says he doesn't know if charges will be laid yet but imagines the driver in the vehicle that hit the car turning right will be charged. 'I don't know what with at this stage.”
