For Western Bay racers only

The La-Z Boy speedway series gets underway at Baypark Saturday evening and Tauranga driver Paul Managh is looking forward to some great competition.
Paul drives the SunLive sponsored 1994 Chevrolet Camaro Saloon and his wife, Esther, is expecting him to do well although realises it will be tough on the track.

'Competition has been very fierce with many fast competitive cars.”
'Each season we try to do something to improve the car with its handling and engine performance,” says Esther.
A feature of the La-Z Boy series to be competed on January 30, February 13 and February 20 is that it is only open to racers from Tauranga and Mount Maunganui.

"A feature of the La-Z Boy series to be competed on January 30, February 13 and February 20 is that it is only open to racers from Tauranga and Mount Maunganui". With competitors and spectators being an increasingly scarce species at Baypark Speedway, to not encourage and welcome visitors (incl. a long weekend) is a rather unique approach to promotion. Of note and disappointing is the support given by local registered competitors and sponsor to this exclusive philosophy, who in turn expect right of entry into outside speedway events where kudos and or prize money attracts there attention!
