Using water in business

Tauranga business people are learning about how they can use grey water and recovered rainwater resources to their advantage.
At a Sustainable Business Network seminar on Thursday morning ‘H20 – A Precious Commodity' is being presented in partnership with Tauranga City Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Environment Bay of Plenty.

SBN Bay of Plenty/Waikato regional manager Jo Wills says water is a precious, and in many parts of the world, extremely scarce resource, which has been flagged as the next oil. Its management is already under debate with regards to private versus civil ownership.
'All New Zealanders rely on a constant supply of water, whether for residential, commercial or industrial use,” says Jo.
'By harnessing rain water through sustainable design and applying a life cycle thinking approach to behaviours and operations, this is something we can have a direct impact on as a region to ensure ongoing supply, avoiding possible shortages and increasing costs in the future.”
