Hayley Dawson, 9, won $100 worth of Burger King vouchers when her number was chosen as part of a draw being done every hour.
There is also a basketball shooting competition and free fries to children who turn up in their sports uniforms.
The Cameron Road restaurant is the second Burger King franchise for Tauranga businessman James Connolly.
James says quite a few people have been through the doors of the restaurant today.
'People seem to be enjoying themselves. We went around the local sports teams and told them what was happening today.”
James says Burger King is committed to the local community through CanTeen, local schools and a number of Bay of Plenty sports clubs including Tauranga basketball, rugby league and netball.
Today's grand opening of the Cameron Road franchise will be followed by the re-launch of the Fraser Cover restaurant tomorrow.
