Motorists will have to use their patience this weekend as temporary road closures and layout changes take place at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Domain Road.
The closures are part of the NZ Transport Agency's Tauranga Eastern Link project and will allow construction of the Domain Road interchange to take place.
The Domain Road interchange.
Domain Road, between Tara Road and State Highway 2, will be closed on Friday from 6pm until 6am on Saturday.
The NZ Transport Agency says the section of road will be closed again on Saturday from 7pm and is not expected to reopen until Monday at 6am.
A statement from the agency says sign posted detours will be in place advising people of detours down State Highway 2, Bell Road, Parton Road and Tara Road.
'Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to adhere to the posted speed restrictions and detours,” the statement says.
'As of next Monday the State Highway 2 Domain Road intersection will have a new road layout with traffic moved onto a temporary roundabout and slip lane so that ground preparation work can take place on the existing highway.”
The work is weather dependent, and if wet, will be postponed until the next fine day.
