A public open day is being held today at ASB Baypark Arena to gain public feedback on three shortlisted options to improve congestion and safety at the Maunganui-Girven Road and Te Maunga intersections.
NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Investigations identified that any improvements made at MGI will impact on the movement of traffic at the SH2 and SH29 intersection at Te Maunga.
To ensure a safe and efficient design for the MGI intersection, improvements to the Te Maunga intersection is needed and will be undertaken at the same time.
Three potential options have been shortlisted for further investigation. Before selecting a preferred option, the NZTA are interested to hear public feedback on the three options.
At the open day the project team will be available to discuss and gain feedback on the three options.
All three options include constructing flyovers, similar to Hewletts Road, and two of the options propose to relocate the existing railway track.
The public open day starts at 3pm today at the ASB Baypark Arena (Suite 1) and will finish at 7pm.
