Tauranga business woman Janine Cooney of Trench-It Industries is looking to improve the position of her company through study of international trade.
This week, Janine was awarded the New Zealand School of Export Certificate of International Trade after earning the NZ School of Export - Tauranga Chamber of Commerce Export Scholarship last May.
"The study required has been beneficial for our business whilst we have been looking at growing our export markets, it all fitted together nicely and I was gaining a qualification," says Janine.
"The study is interesting and helps you to take a good look at where your company is going internationally, and helps setup some plans and goals of just how to get there with some great advice from the tutors at the Export School."
Janine is now working towards the Diploma of International Trade, a move which meets the approval of NZ School of Export director Romauld Rudzki.
"Janine has proved that any New Zealand company can raise its export game through the same level of professional development as its overseas competitors are used to," says Romauld.
"This is good for Trench-It and good for the country as we try to improve what we do and how we do it."
Janine has also won the praise of Tauranga Chamber chief executive Max Mason.
"Janine is an inspiration for all exporters," says Max.
"Every hour of effort she puts into her certificate now will pay dividends in the future both for her business, and for the economy as a whole."
