Motorists are being advised to expect delays while travelling along Taiktimu Drive on State Highway 2 this Sunday.
The NZ Transport Agency will be undertaking resurfacing works on the highway, heading towards Bethlehem, from Sunday for the next two weeks.
Resurfacing works will be taking place on Sunday.
The pavement works is part of the NZTA's maintenance programme for this area and will only affect west bound lanes along a 320metre section of SH2 from beyond the 11th Avenue Waihi Road overbridge.
Bay of Plenty state highways manager Brett Gliddon says one lane at a time will be closed to allow for the work to be done and a speed restriction will be in place in the construction area.
'We expect only minor delays will be experienced for evening traffic during the week days.”
The pavement rehabilitation requires the existing road material to be removed and a new one applied to a small area, the works will be undertaken both during the day and night.
Variable Message Signs have been set up to provide motorists with advance warning of the works ahead and of the speed restriction in place.
'We apologise for the temporary inconvenience while this work is being carried out and we'd like to thank motorists for their patience during these minor delays.”
The work is weather dependant and if it is wet this work will be moved to the next available fine day.
