Business confidence rebound

Tauranga business confidence has bounced back to its highest level in some time, says Tauranga Chamber of Commerce CEO Max Mason.
The latest Tauranga Chamber of Commerce business confidence survey shows 70 per cent of businesses expect the city's business environment to improve over the next six months.

Max Mason says confidence is on the up in Tauranga.

About 53 per cent of businesses also believe profitability will improve.
Max says a number of factors have helped boost business confidence, including increased employment, the kiwifruit season, rising exports and growing tourism numbers.
"I think things for some businesses are still a bit patchy and are still struggling, but at the same time there's more and more optimism out there and optimism for the future and that's a fantastic indicator."
The survey showed that 13 per cent of businesses are experiencing difficulties in finding skilled staff, which is three times higher than a year ago.
"We have a way to go before we have a good reputation for a national representation of jobs. That is a challenge and something we have to work on growing."
