Kimbra wins Grammy

Kiwi songstress Kimbra has won a Grammy for her collaboration with Australian musician Gotye in the hit single Somebody That I Used To Know at the 55th Grammy awards in Los Angeles today.

The pair won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the hit beating both LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It and We Are Young by Fun.

Somebody That I Used To Know has topped the singles chart in 18 countries selling more than 12 million copies worldwide since its release in July 2011.

The win was announced at the pre-televised event. The song is also nominated for Record of the Year, which will be announced at the main awards ceremony inside the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

The Hamilton born singer adorned a gold stud and sheer light blue dress for the awards.

Flight of the Concords star Bret McKenzie missed out on an award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

More than 80 gramophone-shaped trophies will be awarded at the Grammys today with some winners announced live during a three-hour broadcast aired on CBS.

Country-pop singer Taylor Swift also picked up a Grammy earlier for her collaboration with T-Bone Burnett and The Civil Wars with their song Safe and Sound from The Hunger Games movie soundtrack.

Jay-Z and Kanye West picked up two awards - Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for their collaboration N****s in Paris.

Beyonce has won Best Traditional R&B Performance for her song Love on Top.

DJ Skrillex picked up three Grammys including Best Dance/Electronica Album for his song - Bangarang.

Rihanna and British DJ Calvin Harris won Best Short Form Music Video for their song We Found Love.
