Road works on State Highway 2 at the Waihi Road on-ramp and on State Highway 29, near Matapihi, will start this Sunday and motorists are being advised to expect delays.
The annual resurfacing works will being on Sunday and run through until Tuesday, February 12.
A lane reduction from double to single lane will be in place at the SH29 Matapihi site.
Delays of up to five minutes can be expected for motorists travelling on this section of the road from 9am to 4pm.
The resurfacing work on the Waihi Road on-ramp will take place on Sunday morning.
This section of road will be closed to traffic for around four hours with a short detour in place for northbound traffic (heading towards Katikati and Auckland), who will be diverted via Beaumaris Boulevard and Moffat Road.
Speed limit reductions will be in place at the locations of the resurfacing works.
Drivers are advised to avoid these two areas at the times the works are taking place/ or if this is not possible, to allow an additional 20 minutes to their journey time as a result of possible delays.
NZTA's Bay of Plenty state highway manager Brett Gliddon says the NZTA and their contractors are progressing well with their annual resurfacing works around the Bay of Plenty, thanks to the continued good weather.
This work is weather dependant so if it is wet on the programmed days then this resurfacing work will be moved to the following weekend.
