Karangahake Gorge is blocked in both directions following a three-vehicle crash.

A police spokesperson said the crash involving two cars and a truck was reported on State Highway 2, between School Rd and Waitawheta Rd, about 10.15am.

“Injuries look to be minor-moderate,” the spokesperson said.

The road was expected to be blocked for “around another 20 to 30 minutes” while the vehicles were recovered.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said two people were taken to Thames Hospital in moderate conditions.
