Tauranga City Council is running a survey this summer to find out what people consider being important features about the coast.
The council's coastal profile survey is asking Bay of Plenty residents 12 questions to help get people thinking about coastal issues.
From December 21 to February 18 surveys will be placed in selected cafes along the coast including the Summer Ambassadors Beach Base at the bottom of Mount Drury and Mount Maunganui and Papamoa libraries.
Information received from the surveys will be included in a draft management plan to review the 1997 Coastal Reserves Management Plan, which discusses vegetation management and other issues along the coastline.
The new management plan will cover Pilot Bay, Mount Drury, and the entire coast from Mount Main Beach to the far end of Papamoa. Mauao is not included as it has a separate management plan.
The draft management plan is due to be published in April next year.
Information gathered from the survey will not be treated as formal submissions but it will help staff prepare the draft management plan.
To take the online survey visit www.tauranga.govt.nz – all entries go in the draw to win an iPad Mini.
In February next year Council staff will be at the following sites to talk to people between 10am -2pm:
• Mount Drury - 2 February
• Tay Street - 9 February
• Papamoa Domain - 16 February
