New bus routes disappoint

While some celebrated the new look Bay Hopper buses on Monday morning over piping hot tea and pastries, others were left disillusioned - and stranded.

A Tauranga woman is even considering removing her children from school to home-school them, due to uncertainty over whether the new service will provide a school bus.
A Welcome Bay resident complains the new Bay Hopper routes have left him unsure how to get to work on time each day.
'I don't know where the new bus stop is now the routes have changed and it's unclear to existing commuters like myself,” says the man, who did not want to be identified.
Cliff Breeds is a regular user of the Bay Hopper bus service and says the new routes have made him consider driving.
He used route seven on Bay Hopper's previous timetable to travel from home in Greerton to Tauranga Hospital. The 12-minute bus ride looped around Greerton, down Cameron Road and dropped him directly outside the hospital.
Under Bay Hopper's new timetable, he has to catch a bus to Greerton, get off and wait 20 minutes for another bus to the hospital. His other option is to travel on two buses via Tauranga CBD.

Buses are unreliable no matter who runs them.

It seems to me that all buses are unreliable. My daughter, a college student has to catch a school bus every day to school and she never arrives at school on time because the bus is ALWAYS LATE. We are half way through the year and the bus company still gets them to school after the first class has begun. How can we teach our young adults the importance of arriving on time for appoinments if they cannot even count on arriving to their first school appoinment on time because the adults they depend on are showing disrespect for their desire to be on time. Come on TGA buses, you have to be reliable and dependable.
