Early morning drivers in the Bay of Plenty are advised to take extreme care today after icy overnight conditions.
Ice and grit on State Highway 29 at the top of the Kaimai Ranges means drivers must be careful.

Last week a vehicle rolled near the top of the ranges when the driver encountered black ice, and early Saturday traffic was confined to one lane for a time.
State Highway 36 from Pyes Pa to Ngongotaha is also one prone to icy patches near the top and in the gorge.
