V8 thrills...Coming soon to a carpark near you!

It hasn't got an engine, but Nigel Barker says drivers of his V8 supercar have already equalled the track record at Bathurst.

Leah the petrolhead gets a taste for V8 racing.

The Absolute Action V8 supercar simulator is going to become a regular sight at events around Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.
Operating as the Classic Hits 95 FM car, it will be at the Tauranga Street Race this weekend on the old Bay Nissan site. The V8 simulator is also available for private functions.
'I also want to do some community work,” says Nigel.
'I'd like to do some fundraising for community organisations. I would like to be able to work with the surf clubs, I could go to their car park and they can sell the tickets.”
The supercars simulator offers racing action and thrills without the spills.
A private function with the simulator present is the only place in town people can legally drink and drive, says Nigel, though he doesn't advise it. Sloppy driving will result in a rougher ride.
The car body is mounted on air rams that push the chassis around in response to braking and turning. If a driver hits a wall, they will know about it – and so will their friends. Progress is displayed on a screen outside the simulator.
Bathurst and Pukekohe are the two most popular tracks, but with advance notice other game written tracks are available on request, says Nigel.
