Tauranga has been listed as one of the country's top cities having homes with price tags of more than $1million.

According to figures released from Quotable Value New Zealand, Tauranga's Marine Parade takes out second place with 296 out of 473 properties topping $1million.

Marine Parade has been named as the second city to have the most home topping $1million, with Auckland coming first.

Property values in Tauranga have been up and down over the past six months, says QV valuer Nicky Harris.

'But the most recent months have seen a slight increase to leave values 2.2 per cent up on last year.”

More than 40,000 houses in New Zealand have a price tag higher than $1million and three quarters of this market is made up of Auckland homes.

Twenty four streets have 100 or more million dollar properties and 118 can boast that every single property on the street is valued at over $1m.

Just three of the top ten streets with the most million dollar properties are outside Auckland – two in Tauranga and one in Wellington.
