Motorists travelling from Tauranga to Auckland can expect normal traffic flow with the State Highway 2 on-ramp open after a truck crash on Wednesday afternoon.

A truck crashed on the on-ramp at the bottom of the Bombay Hill near the intersection of SH2 and SH1.

NZTA predicted the road to be closed for around four hours as emergency services dealt with the situation, however, due damage to the on-ramp it was closed until around midnight.

Diversions were in place for northbound SH2 traffic with motorists taking the southbound off ramp onto SH1, exit at Pokeno and then get back onto SH1 via the Pokeno northbound on ramp to continue north.
