Road closures along Tauranga's Cameron Road

The closure is expected to start around 6pm this Sunday.

A section of Cameron Road, near 11th Ave, in Tauranga will be closed for three weeks from Sunday.

The Cameron Road/ 11th Ave east intersection access near Jaycar and The Flooring Room heading towards Memorial Park will be closed to traffic from 6pm Sunday, October 29, says Tauranga City Council.

The closure is to allow contractors to work on the streetscape and stormwater upgrades.

Council expects this section of road to be closed for around three weeks,  weather-depending.

Southbound traffic heading away from the city will be able to access 11th Ave East via 10th Ave East and Norris Street.

Northbound traffic heading towards the city will be able to access 11th Ave East via 13th Ave East and Devonport Road.

Traffic travelling from Waihi Road will be able to access 11th Ave East via 12th Ave East and Devonport Road.

Pedestrian access to businesses in the area will remain, however, there will be some car parking reduced while these works are underway, says a council spokesperson.

Traffic heading south away from the city will be redirected along 4th Ave east to Devonport Road before re-joining Cameron Road at 5th Ave east or 6th Ave east. Access to 5th Ave east will be maintained via Devonport Road, and will be exit only onto Cameron Road.

Arundel Street will be closed at the Cameron Road intersection. Access to Arundel Street via Devonport Road will be reserved for residents and businesses only.

The Arundel Street intersection will reopen to become an exit only on Monday, October 30, but will close again for three weeks weather dependent for the construction of a speed table from Sunday, November 5, says council.

"Pedestrian and cyclist access, and access to properties in the area will be maintained.

"Buses will also follow the detours, and bus stops within the closure area will be marked as closed.
