Works to build the necessary height on the Bell Road side of the Tauranga Eastern Link are in the final stages.
Meanwhile, construction of an extension to Te Okuroa Drive and a new intersection with future The Sands Avenue is also progressing.
This phase includes:
- The Te Okuroa and The Sands Avenue signalised intersection.
- The extension of Te Okuroa Drive (east) to the new intersection.
- Shared bi-directional cycleway and footpaths.
To keep everyone safe during this phase of work, the cycle path that runs alongside the TEL is diverted via a temporary path and a manned crossing near the work site. Traffic Management With the conclusion of preliminary earth works, traffic management on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road - SH2 - has now been removed.
For now, no traffic management will be required until construction of the interchange itself commences in early 2024.
"We’ll be able to share details on what traffic management to support this phase of construction will look like closer to the time," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson. For more information about the Pāpāmoa East Interchange and construction, visit www.tauranga.govt.nz/pei.
