A person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a vehicle crash in Mount Maunganui.

Police were notified of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Hewletts Road and Waimarie Street around 10.10am.

The Tauranga Transport Operations Centre says the accident was utside the entry to the Gull Station West Bound Lane.

The motorcyclist has been transported to hospital in a serious condition and the bus lane was blocked for a short time.
