UPDATE 9.27AM: All lanes of Hewletts Road are now open following a crash earlier this morning.

Tauranga City Council reported a crash on Hewletts Road, between Briidge Marine and Tasman Quay.

The left lane was blocked for a while and traffic had been building up in the area.

Council reports the road is now open but delays will still be experienced as congestion clears.

A police spokesperson says they were notified of a two vehicle crash on Te Awanui Drive at about 8.50am.

"Minor injuries were reported. One lane of traffic was blocked, but was still moving in the other lanes.

"The council had been called for cleanup."

Motorists are advised to expect delays following a crash on Hewletts Road.

A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says a crash has occurred on Hewletts Rd between Bridge Marina and Tasman Quay East Bound.

"Left Lane has been closed and is blocked. Emergency Services on scene.

"Major congestion is forming tailing back over Tauranga Harbour Bridge.

"Expect delays eastbound toward Mount Maunganui."
