Completing the bucket list

Buying a motorbike at age 80 is not something most people would consider, but Whakamarama's Dorne Clark has done so to complete her ‘bucket list'.

Dorne has just bought a second-hand motorbike worth $14,000 and is preparing to ride it in the Bert Munro Challenge in Invercargill this weekend.
She and her late husband Alf have been to many rallies in the past and the couple went to the first ever Bert Munro Challenge in 2006, although Dorne rode pillion on that occasion.
That trip was one of the items they had on their ‘bucket list', which they drew up after Alf was diagnosed with melanoma.
Alf died early in 2008 and this trip is the last item on Dorne's personal ‘bucket list'.
'I wanted to do this one under my own steam,” says Dorne, who worked as a home-carer over the last year to save up the money to buy her 400cc Piaggio named Joe.
