UPDATE: A 42-year-old man is in a stable condition in Tauranga Hospital after a collision between a car and motorcyclist on SH2 today.

Emergency services responded to the crash around 8am on SH2 at its intersection with Apata Station Road.

A motorcyclist has been taken to Tauranga Hospital following a crash on SH2.

Tauranga Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says the motorcyclist has a "badly broken leg".

He was being treated at the scene by St John Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tauranga Hospital.

Motorists experienced delays as the section of road was closed for about an hour.
