UPDATE: Te Puna Station Road will remain closed until at least Monday, August 20 after a bank collapsed bringing trees down onto the road earlier this week.
The road was closed on Tuesday to allow InRoads, which manages the Western Bay of Plenty roading network, to remove trees and debris from the road.
Te Puna Station Road remains closed to allow InRoads to remove trees and debris from the road.
The road was scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, but a spokesperson for InRoads says it will now remain closed until Monday.
InRoads says the slip face has numerous springs and material is continually falling making the slip face unstable and a hazard to travelling public.
There will also be speed restrictions in place once the road reopens.
The best alternate route is down Clarke Road in Te Puna.
InRoads will continue working to remove the large pine overhanging the road, and clearing the debris.
