A wet week caused the Monday Vets at Waihi Golf Club to cancel their day this week, and had a detrimental effect on the Thursday golf, says club member Rodger Bagshaw.

Nine hole section:

On Tuesday May 31t the haggle of the day was stableford, and in the ladies division 1, Lorraine Meyer had the top score of 18 points.

She was followed by Glen Bennett (16), and Helen Brady (15).

The division 2 winner was Margaret Hickey with 20 points, followed by Lynda Thomson, and Denise Morgan, both with 19 points.

In the men's section Garth Pritchard had the best score with 18 points, and close behind was Rex Smith with 17.

The haggle for the ladies this week was stableford, and the best score was 35 points recorded by Anke Hermannsdorfer.

In second place was Avon Gordon with 34, followed by Jill Morrison, and Nita Dalley both with 33. The Dreamers Player of the Week was Anke Hermannsdorfer with 73 nett.

Thursday men:

With a very poor weather forecast, and threatening clouds, only 14 men started in the morning haggle. Michael Bonnici continued his recent good form by winning with 37 points.

Runner-up was Tim Parish with 36, and three others followed on 35.

The afternoon field was even smaller with nine players braving the elements. Murray Gutry (Hamilton) was top with 35 points, and he was followed by Wayne Brierly (34), and David P. Campbell (32).

Saturday ladies:

A fine day after a wet week saw the Saturday ladies enjoy a nett haggle with Bev Ireland heading home the field with a nett 74.

Second was Liz Hale with 75, followed by Karen Roche, and Phillipa Harvey, both with 78.

Saturday men:

A good field of men also enjoyed the conditions, and in the morning haggle division1, Earl Hoskin had the top score with 37 points, with John Giffney next on 35.

Norm Sanderson, Ken Purcell, Allen Smith, and Francis Gascoigne all had 34 points.

In division2, Bob Baunton, who hasn't had much golf of late, blitz the field with 41 points.

After several months of frustration, and a little help from the handicapper, Des Johns was thrilled to be second with a well constructed 35 points! He was followed by John Saunders with 33 points.

In the afternoon haggle, Murray Fraser got his revenge on Andy Roche from last week by top scoring with 39 points.

Next were Richard Taitoko and Earle White, both with 38, followed by Terry Gerbich, Mike Rose, and Murray Gutry, all with 37 points.
