UPDATE 5.30PM: Police say it is fortunate that only moderate injuries have been suffered in a crash on State Highway 29.
A two-vehicle crash occured just outside Kaimai School with police advised just after 4.30pm.
"There appear to have been two cars involved but fortunately only one person is reported to have moderate injuries," says a police statement.
Traffic is said to be easing in the area but delays are still possible.
An earlier one-lane closure along the Tauranga Eastern Link following a one-car crash has now been cleared.
EARLIER 5.10PM: Traffic is building up across Tauranga with two crashes, rush hour and holiday traffic combining to create a travel headache for many motorists.
A crash on the Tauranga Eastern Link and another on State Highway 29 are causing delays.
A caller to the 0800 SunLive number says that there is debris all over SH29 the road as a result of the incident in the vicinity of Kaimai School.
'Traffic is already starting to build up real bad out here,” says the caller.

Meanwhile, one lane on the Tauranga Eastern Link is currently blocked off after a single vehicle crash.
The incident has happened just past the Bruce Road turn off heading east bound.
'Lane one east bound currently closed until the crashed vehicle can be removed from the scene,” says a council spokesperson.
'Traffic travelling on SH2 towards Papamoa and Paengaroa from Baypark can expect delays.”
