Emergency services are responding to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Horahora Road and SH1 near Piarere.

Police were alerted to the crash just before 3.40pm.

"Two people have been injured," says a Police spokesperson.

"One person has serious injuries and the other has moderate injuries."

The road is closed and diversions are in place.
