Serious injuries in SH29 crash

UPDATE 1.30PM: Police are now advising that the road on State Highway 29 is now open following an earlier crash.

"The road is now clear," says a police spokesperson.

"This crash is now fully clear and SH29 is open again," says a statement from Waka Kotahi NZTA.

"Thank you for your patience."

PREVIOUSLY 12PM: One person has suffered serious injuries and three others are hurt in a crash on State Highway 29.

Police say they received a report of a crash involving a car and a van in Omanawa at about 11.25am.

'One person has been seriously injured, one person moderately, and two people have minor injuries,” says a police spokesperson.

'The road is currently blocked and diversions are being put in place.”In a Twitter post, Waka Kotahi NZTA confirm the crash occurred near Belk Rd and travellers should expect delays.

EARLIER 11.26AM: State Highway 29 is closed following a two-vehicle crash.

A SunLive reader says a car and van have crashed near Belk Road.

"Police are at the scene.

"People should expect delays."

The crash is reported to be causing delays in the area.

NZTA reports the highway is closed in both directions.

"A serious incident has been reported to emergency services in this area.

"Delays are possible. An update will be provided as soon as more information is available."
