Tree removal works will take place on State Highway 29A between the Hairini Roundabout and Maungatapu Road today.

For safety, Stop/Go temporary traffic management will be in place between 10am and 12pm, with a temporary speed limit, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

"Works are planned for the weekend to minimise the impact on traffic," says a spokesperson for the roading agency.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and are encouraged to allow extra time for travel, use alternative routes, or plan travel for outside these times. Our contractors will be actively working to minimise delays as much as possible.

"Please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs."

In the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed. Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website (journeys.nzta.govt.nz) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.

"Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience."
