There were two vehicle crashes overnight in Tauranga.

One involved a car hitting traffic lights at the Hairini roundabout, and the other involved a ute that overturned at the Chapel St on-ramp.

At around 12.05am Police were notified of a crash at the Hairini roundabout.

“A car is reported to have hit a pole,” says a Police spokesperson.

There is no information at this stage on whether anyone was injured.

Just over two hours later a vehicle crashed on State Highway 2 at the Chapel St on-ramp.

Police say they were notified of the crash at the Chapel St on-ramp at around 2.20am.

“A ute is reported to have overturned,” says a Police spokesperson. “There are no apparent injuries.”

NZTA closed the road, as the on-ramp was blocked, causing traffic delays for motorists travelling at that time. The road reopened at around 4.30am.
