Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises tree removal and maintenance works will take place at the Oropi roundabout on Saturday.

The westbound State Highway 29A on-ramp will be closed between 5am and 10am, when work to remove the trees will be undertaken.

A signposted detour will be available via Oropi Road, Maleme Street and Cameron Road, before rejoining SH29A at the Barkes Corner roundabout.

Only westbound traffic will be affected, says a spokesperson for the roading agency.

"In addition to the on-ramp closure, there will be a lane closure through, and on the approach to, the Oropi roundabout to ensure vehicles follow the correct lanes to avoid the SH29A on-ramp.

"Works are planned for the weekend to minimise the impact on traffic. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and are encouraged to allow extra time for travel, use alternative routes, or plan travel for outside these times. Our contractors will be actively working to minimise delays as much as possible.

"Please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signs."

In the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed. Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website (journeys.nzta.govt.nz) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.

"Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience."
